Biography
Jim Raymond is the younger brother of Flash Gordon artist Alex Raymond. Raymond started assisting on Chic Young's Blondie strip in 1935, mostly as a replacement for his brother, who had worked on Blondie for three years before leaving to start his own strips.
When Young's son died in 1937, Raymond took over writing and drawing Blondie for a year and afterward continued a major role creating the strips. In 1950, due to Chic's diminishing eyesight, Raymond became the lead artist and developed the strip's modern style.
Raymond also briefly assisted his brother Alex on Jungle Jim around 1944
Chic Young died in 1973 and his son Dean took over as head writer. Raymond began sharing a byline credit with Dean soon after.
