Note from Marcus Brazil: 'In June 1949 Sydney underwent serious electricity power shortages, resulting in rolling power backouts and attempts to ration electricity use. A short editorial on page 6 cites this as the reason for the interior of Man Junior changing from full colour in the previous issue to black and white with a single orange spot colour here. June 1949 was also the month that Sydney (and much of NSW) suffered its worst flooding in more than 60 years, an event reflected in the cover by Hartmut Lahm.'
