Notes
Ayers & James was an importer of US goods (including magazines) that began publishing during the Second World War. It produced a range of "Yank" titled comics, reprinted Classics Illustrated in Australia, and published some original Australian comics. Use of the publisher name ceased in 1953, but further comics were possibly published under other trading names, such as Red Circle Press.
At some point, Ayers & James was acquired by Magazine Management. It is possible this occurred in several stages as internal comics evidence points to an association in the 1950s, while a former director of Magazine Management has reported that the company acquired Ayers and James in the 1960s.
